Truth means nothing apart from God. The reason so many conversations and discussions regarding truth are so non-sensical (if that is a word) is because truth cannot be adequately explained or defended apart from God. Paul knew this when he wrote in Romans 1:21-22: “Although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools.” Ouch! Even more harsh (which Biblical truth usually is), Paul went on to write, “Even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting” (Romans 1:28). In other words, extricate God as the source for truth and unrighteousness is the result. Anyone who can be honest with him- or herself would have to admit that this describes accurately the condition of our world. It is because of this reality that I write this blog for my children. Prayerfully writing that my children know and understand how to answer the question, “What is truth?”
